We certainly do, and maybe you do as well. Find out how you can help them.
What is blocking these people’s access to help?
“Must Stay Gay” laws in multiple states restrict the therapeutic options of minors. LGBT activists call these restrictions bans on “conversion therapy.” The rhetoric around these laws creates a chilling climate, prejudicing therapists against counseling people who want help overcoming gender dysphoria or unwanted same-sex attraction.
Now, at last, someone is doing something to overturn “Must Stay Gay” laws. A brave Christian therapist, Kaley Chiles, is challenging Colorado’s “Must Stay Gay” law. The US Supreme Court is considering her case. We at The Ruth Institute submitted a “friend of the court” amicus brief in support of Kaley Chiles’s case.
Did you know:
Spread the message!
We are not a “deep pockets” organization. We have no George Soros or Tim Gill supporting us. Our support comes directly from the public, from people like you. Last quarter, we surpassed our fundraising goal of $25,000. This quarter, we’re tripling our goal to $75,000 because the number of young people identifying as transgender has tripled.
What family do you know that’s being torn apart by a loved one who thinks he or she was born in the wrong body? Donate in their honor.
What parents do you know who are heartbroken and praying daily for their children? Help us spread the message of hope for change in their honor.
We must meet this moment with truth, courage, and compassion. We are working to protect the freedom to heal. Your gift helps those who experience same-sex attraction or gender confusion find counseling that honors their spiritual and family goals.
That is what the LGBT activists want you to believe. In fact, the “studies” they provide are gravely flawed. Go here for details.
The most recent scientific evidence points away from the idea that sexual orientation is comparable to race. Go here for details. The idea that people are “born trans” or “born in the wrong body” has been tacked onto the “born gay” narrative, which has been scientifically disproven.
On the contrary, people change sexual orientation all the time. There are actually more “ex-gays” than gays! Some people change with the help of a licensed therapy, others without any professional counseling at all. Go here for details.
Colorado’s law says counselors can’t help minors reduce same-sex attraction—even if the child asks for help. We call that censorship.
They say, “Trying to change is always harmful.” But they’re wrong. And they know it. That’s why they want to block the exits.
The Ruth Institute, writing as the Sexual Orientation Scholars, submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court.
We provide evidence to show:
In Colorado and 27 other states, it does. The law bans certain conversations between counselors and minors—specifically those that acknowledge and support a desire to change sexual orientation. That’s viewpoint discrimination, and it’s unconstitutional.
No. Numerous studies show that many young people change how they describe their orientation over time. The Ruth Institute quoted these studies in our amicus brief.
Because she’s defending the right of counselors and clients to speak freely—without government censorship. Our brief provides evidence to show that no one is born gay. People can and often do change their sexual orientation, with or without therapy. So-called conversion therapy does not harm people and often helps them.
Because the number of youth diagnosed with gender dysphoria tripled between 2017 and 2021. We’re tripling our goal to meet the moment.
No. The Supreme Court’s decision in Chiles v. Salazar could shape counseling laws nationwide. Free speech in therapy is on the line.
