Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., will be a speaker at the Eighth Day Symposium, “Sex & Lies: Delusions of Self in the 21st Century,” January 13-15, 2022, in Wichita, Kansas.
Morse will speak on “Understanding and Combatting the Global Sexual Revolution.” Other speakers include Rod Dreher, a journalist and editor of The American Conservative, and Carl R. Trueman, author of The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism and the Road to the Sexual Revolution.
Morse said: “I am honored to be part of this distinguished gathering and look forward to discussing how the Sexual Revolution set the stage for so many of the cultural contagions which plague us today, including sex abuse, pornography, the decline of marriage and the contraceptive mentality.
The symposium is sponsored by Eighth Day Institute, a Christian organization which promotes “the cultivation of friendships through conversations about how the faith of our fathers can help us navigate the new dark ages, bring life to the decaying culture of our cities and uncover timeless ways to foster virtue in the soul.”
Past symposia include “Hope in the Age of Anxiety,” “Eros and the Mystery of God: On the Body, Sex and Ascetism,” “Whatever Happened to Wonder: The Recovery of Mystery in a Secular Age” and “Imagination and Soul: Harry Potter, Twilight and Spiritual Formation.”
