The astonishing revelations regarding P Diddy are yet another example of a powerful man abusing the weak.

Several women have accused rapper Sean P. “Diddy” Combs of drugging them, rape, sex trafficking, and assault. At least one of Combs’ accusers was a minor at the time of the alleged incident. It is another example of a powerful man abusing the weak.

“Many of the numerous allegations against Combs are likely to be proven true,” said Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Founder and President of the Ruth Institute. “Sexual Revolutionary ideology is certainly a contributing factor to this sickening story.”

Morse explained: “Since the mid-60’s at least, society’s elite have peddled an ideology that claims all the old sex taboos are unnecessary and probably damaging to people’s mental health. Sexual activity is an entitlement.”

“Why then, are we surprised when a wealthy and influential man uses his entertainment industry ‘star-maker’ status for extracting sexual favors?”

The Ruth Institute upholds the ancient Christian teaching that the proper context for sexual activity is marriage. This arrangement protects the interests of children in having a lifelong relationship with both of their parents. It also protects the weak against predatory behavior of the strong.

Morse continued: “Telling people that sex is an entitlement empowers potential predators. Telling people that causal sex is harmless disarms potential victims. Instead of the default position being, ‘put a ring on it or no deal,’ the default position is, ‘I need to have a reason to say no, and I can’t think of one right now.’”

Criminal sexual assault cases can be notoriously difficult to prove. The cases against Combs are civil cases, filed under the New York State, “lookback” window, called the Adult Survivors Act.

The act gave victims of sexual violence one-year, from November 2022 to November 2023, to file civil claims regardless of the statute of limitations—a time window in which a person has to bring a legal claim following an alleged incident.

The standards of proof for civil claims, which involve monetary damages, are generally lower than for criminal cases, which potentially involve jail time.

“As of now, we do not know how the civil suits against Combs will play out. But we can view this situation as yet another example of the Sexual Revolution’s toxic ideology favoring rich and powerful predators,” Morse concluded.
