Ruth Inst. Awards Banquet to Celebrate Courageous Pro-Life/ Pro-Family Leaders

The Ruth Institute’s 4th Annual Summit, “Reclaiming the Professions for Life and
Family,” July 16-17 in Lake Charles, LA, kicks off with an Awards Banquet.

“This banquet honors heroic leaders and authors who shine the light of truth on the Sexual Revolution,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer
Roback Morse, Ph.D.

The Book of the Year Award will be received by Katy Faust, co-author of Them Before Us.
Published in February 2021, Them Before Us dispels prevalent, harmful myths concerning children’s rights, including:

  • Kids only need love and safety – moms and dads are optional.
  • Love makes a family – biology is irrelevant.
  • Children are resilient and will “get over” divorce.

Faust was a recent guest on the Ruth Inst’s weekly Dr. J Show, discussing why children shouldn’t be forced to sacrifice their happiness for their parents.

Sharon Slater, president of Family Watch International, will receive the Activist of the Year Award. Slater
also chairs the UN Family Rights Caucus and is the author of Stand for the Family: A Call to Responsible Citizenship,
which contains research on many sensitive topics, including human sexuality.

Slater was also a recent guest on the Dr. J. Show, discussing the UN’s insane sex-ed program.

The night’s keynote speaker, Rev. Walter Hoye, will receive the Witness of the Year Award. In 2009, Rev. Hoye was convicted of protesting at an abortion
clinic in Oakland, CA, in violation of the city’s “bubble law.” He was offered a lesser sentence of community service if he agreed to never return
to the clinic, but he refused and spent 30 days in jail until his conviction was overturned.

This experience is the subject of his book, Black and Pro-life in America, The Incarceration and Exoneration of Walter B. Hoye.

Hoye is the Founder and President of both the Issues4Life Foundation and the California Civil Rights Foundation.
He is the founder of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California, an Executive Member of the
National Black Pro-life Coalition, and a member of the Ruth Institute Board of Directors. In
a Dr. J Show interview, he discussed why abortion is the most difficult conversation to have with African Americans.

Following the July 16 Awards Banquet is the Survivors’ Summit on July 17. Find more information and register for these events here.

The Ruth Institute is a global non-profit organization, leading an international interfaith coalition to
defend the family and build a civilization of love.

Jennifer Roback Morse is the author of The Sexual State: How Elite Ideologies Are Destroying Lives and Love and Economics: It Takes a Family to Raise a Village.
