Thinking Beyond Roe at Survivors Summit

After Roe, kids will still need their parents, in some ways more than before Roe fell. The Summit for Survivors gave insights into that.

“When the Dobbs decision was announced, the Ruth Institute was educating and strategizing about the future of abortion and the gay agenda at our Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution in Lake Charles, LA,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. “Now is the time to re-consider other ill-advised rulings.”

The court held that there is no constitutional right to abortion. In his concurring opinion, Justice Clarence Thomas said other precedents involving substantive due process, including Obergefell v. Hodges, which created a constitutional right to gay marriage, should also be reconsidered.

Morse agreed: “Abortion and same-sex ‘marriage’ are pseudo rights which undermine real rights.”

The Summit for Survivors included presentations from such distinguished pro-life champions as Kristan Hawkins (President of Students for Life of America), Apostle Arnold Culbreath (Director of Ministry Engagement for the Douglass Leadership Institute), Eric Scheidler (Executive Director of the Pro-Life Action League), and Lori Hoye(co-founder with her husband Rev. Walter Hoye of theIssues4Life Foundation).

“Now that Roe has been reversed, we need to begin planning for a pro-life America. Our Summit last weekend was the place to start,” Morse said.

The Summit also included talks by Fr. Shenan Boquet (president of Human Life International) on the Contraceptive Ideology and Katrina Zeno on the Gender Ideology, which includes gay marriage.

Jim Garlow, Founder and CEO of Well Versed, Inc., discussed lessons learned from the campaign to pass California’s Proposition 8, which defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

There was also a panel called “Change is Possible! Sexual Orientation Change Efforts: Statistical Analysis and Personal Testimony,” which included Charlene Cothran (a former lesbian), Paul Darrow (formerly gay), and Fr. Paul Sullins, the Ruth Institute’s Senior Research Associate, on what the data shows on the effectiveness of change efforts.

“As we move out of the morass of Roe and other pseudo-rights created by a judiciary in thrall to the Sexual Revolution, the Ruth Institute will continue to provide research and training to make a return to Judeo-Christian ethics a reality,” Morse said.
