YouTube Censors for “Medical Misinformation”

Yet again, YouTube has censored any mention of the link between abortion and breast cancer because they claim it is “medical misinformation.”

Commenting on YouTube’s censorship of a video on the link between abortion and breast cancer, Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. said: “Why doesn’t YouTube just admit that if they don’t like your views, they’ll find a way to censor you?”

On June 18, YouTube removed a video clip of the Ruth Institute interview with scientist Dr. Joel Brind on the causal connection between abortion and breast cancer. This video was a 3-minute clip from a longer video that had been on YouTube since August 2, 2022. You can watch the “YouTube Safe” version of the 3-minute video here.

Morse noted, “This isn’t the first time YouTube has tried to suppress our interview with Dr. Brind. We posted my full-length interview with him on October 1, 2021. On July 26, 2022, YouTube informed us that this video ‘violates our medical misinformation policy,’ and so they ‘removed’ it.”

Pictured right is a screenshot of the email from YouTube explaining why they deleted the video. They cite the World Health Organization’s stance as well as “local health authorities” as reasons for deleting the video.

The local health organization in the United States is the reason that the WHO and YouTube don’t allow discussion of any sort of link between abortion and breast cancer. Dr. Joel Brind discusses how that happened here.

“I say, in the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, overturing Roe v Wade, YouTube suppressed our video. Along with the rest of the Pro-abortion Establishment, YouTube circled the wagons to protect the reputation of their precious abortion-is-always-and-everywhere-safe mantra.”

Morse noted, “Dr. Brind has been a Professor of Biology and Endocrinology at Baruch College for 34 years. He has researched the abortion breast cancer link as far back as the early 1990s. In so doing, he incurred the wrath of the medical establishment of the day, which punished him by getting various research institutions to cut off any affiliation with him.”

You can hear Dr. Brind discuss this damning indictment of his profession in this 9-minute clip still on YouTube.

Morse continued: “Women with a family history of breast cancer have every right to know that abortion presents an elevated risk factor for them. YouTube is not hurting me or Dr. Brind: they are hurting women contemplating abortion who deserve accurate information.”

“Dr. Brind isn’t some crackpot fulminating on the Internet, but a serious scientist engaged in rigorous research,” Morse explained. “No matter. YouTube doesn’t want the public to know about the Abortion Breast Cancer link, so it shuts down any discussion of the matter, under the guise of protecting the public from ‘misinformation.’ How convenient.”

“It’s too bad that the totalitarians of old – the communists and fascists – didn’t think of this. Then, instead of saying they found certain ideas threatening, they could say the opinions violated their ‘community standards.’”

“Organizations like YouTube have become tech-totalitarians as terrified of opposing views as the KGB or Gestapo. They just have a slightly more sophisticated approach to censorship.”

“Fortunately, there’s growing competition among video-sharing websites. As more users learn about the games YouTube plays, alternative sites like Locals and Twitter will become increasingly popular.”

“The uncensored original and complete interview with Dr. Brind is available on the Ruth Institute Locals channel. Login is required, but the material is free!”
