I am deeply relieved that former President Donald Trump is now President-Elect Donald Trump. Right now I’m storming Heaven (and hope you will join me) in asking God to move the president on four crucial corrections. Let’s pray that he really does each of the following, fulfilling his campaign promises:
Release and Pardon Political Prisoners
First, I pray that the new president pardons the pro-life protestors who have been sentenced to prison. Among them are Paulette Harlow, aged 75, and her sister Jean Marshall, aged 74. The Biden administration’s Department of Justice decided that these two elderly and infirm women are violent criminals who deserve to be locked up in federal prison. Happily, Trump has already signaled that he will “rapidly review the cases of every political prisoner who’s unjustly victimized by the Biden regime, including Paulette, so we get them out of the gulags and back to their families where they belong.”
Along with the pro-life protesters, I wish the new president would pardon those charged and imprisoned for their activities on January 6, 2021. I have no doubt that he empathizes with them. Their sufferings have been all out of proportion to any harm they have done. Julie Kelly has done careful work detailing the problems with the Department of Justice’s conduct.
Like the peaceful pro-life protesters, the January 6 protesters were exercising their cherished rights as American citizens to express their point of view — even an unpopular point of view that challenges the powerful. It is no exaggeration to refer to these people as political prisoners.
Pardon them, sir. All of them.
