Help! I’m reading a bad book!

I am reading a bad book, that i agreed to review for my friends at Mercator Net. Red Families v Blue Families is a deeply aggravating book! But don’t take my word for it: Glenn Reyonlds, of Instapundit, has reviewed it for Commentary magazine. (The current issue is not yet posted.)

I am what the authors of Red Families v. Blue Families call a “sexual liberal.” I support gay marriage and in general, I’m happy with the idea of people having sex outside marriage as long as they’re reasonably bright about it… you would think I would have found great sustaenance in their book… But instead, I found it to be an example of the smugness and condescension that so often plague self-conciously enlightened discussion of these subjects.

He is right: “condescending” is the word. I can only read it in small doses.

I should demand hazard pay for having to read the whole thing!
