Ruth Institute Sends Roses to Indianapolis Archbishop Charles Thompson for His Stalwart Defense of Catholic Teaching

The Ruth Institute sent two dozen white roses to Indianapolis Archbishop Charles Thompson for his defense of Catholic teaching in the case of a teacher at the city’s Cathedral High School involved in a “same-sex marriage.”

As Archbishop Thompson requested, the teacher in question has been separated from the school.

A statement from the Archdiocese said, “The issue is not about sexual orientation; rather, it is about our expectation that all personnel inside a
Catholic school — who are ministers of the faith — abide by all Church teachings, including the nature of marriage.”

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. said Roses from Ruth are “presented in gratitude for upholding the Church’s teachings on
life, marriage and human sexuality.”

Morse added: “In an era when the media does its best to enforce cultural orthodoxy, courageous defenders of Catholic doctrine deserve an expression
of our gratitude.”

Past recipients of Roses from Ruth, which was started in 2016, have included Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo of Richmond, Archbishop Charles Chaput of
Philadelphia, and Archbishop Alexander Sample of Portland, OR.
