It hardly seems possible, but school is back in session (in most states). As if June (Pride Month) wasn’t bad enough with its rampant displays of promiscuity and godlessness, many parents are gearing up for the horror show facing their children, not only in public schools, but also in many private and Christian/Catholic schools. Now more than ever, parents need to commit to keeping their children safe by combating the effects of the Sexual Revolution.
There are many steps parents can take to protect their children but protecting them starts by 1) knowing what they’re up against and 2) how to combat it.
This week, I have a few book recommendations for parents. These books would be helpful to anyone but, speaking as a parent, I have found them to be particularly insightful. I especially encourage parents and young adult students to pick one (or all) of these up. Two are perfect for anyone trying to learn more about how we got where we are today and how we can combat the lies of the Sexual Revolution. The third book I have to recommend is a tremendously helpful parenting book. Let’s dive in!
The Sexual Revolution and its Victims by Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse
This book is comprised of a collection of essays written by Dr. Morse, president and founder of the Ruth Institute, over the years. With compelling arguments as well as personal testimonies, she talks about a wide range of issues. These issues effect all of us, regardless of whether or not we have ever experienced them personally in our own lives. Whether looking at abortion, same-sex marriage, sexual abuse, cohabitation, divorce, or transgenderism, we have all know someone affected by the Sexual Revolution. The affects have of course been devastating.
There is so much junk being thrown into our kids’ faces, and we need to be prepared to combat it. The issues discussed in The Sexual Revolution and its Victims are ones we all need to be aware of, especially parents.
If you want to be able to more articulately defend your children and speak out against the warped ideals being thrown at them, read this book. You’ll be better informed about how we got where we are today, but you will also be given some helpful tips for moving forward.
The Sexual State: How Elite Ideologies are Destroying Lives and why the Church was Right all Along by Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse
This is a powerful book – frightening but eye-opening. The title says it all. Also written by Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, The Sexual State discusses our backwards culture that has been created by “elites” harnessing the power of the State. We have been fed false ideas about contraception, divorce, and gender that have caused confusion and devastation.
Dr. Morse talks about how our culture has become perverse and backwards. We live in an evil society. Women can kill their children in the name of “choice.” Children can choose their gender and mutilate their bodies. Men can supposedly give birth and lactate. Motherhood and fatherhood are devalued. Pedophilia is becoming more normalized. Children are being sexually groomed even in schools and no one bats an eye. The list goes on and on.
The church really was right about the dangers of these sins. For those of us wondering how to come out of this darkness, the church (despite the imperfections of the human side of things) holds the solutions.
Be a Happier Parent or Laugh Trying by Betsy Kerekes
My final recommendation today is a parenting book. Changing society starts in the home. Family is at the core of society. Back to school time is a great time for parents to reassess their parenting skills. It’s also a great time to start new routines and try new skills. May I suggest that parents dive into Be a Happier Parent or Laugh Trying by the lovely Betsy Kerekes?
Let’s face it, raising kids in today’s world is tough. Yet, it is possible to parent with love and grace (and even with joy and laughter). This book is a great reminder to bring joy, fun, and laughter back into parenting. You’ll feel less alone in the trenches and encouraged to take on challenges as they come.
This book is one of the most refreshing takes on parenting that I have ever read. I laughed, I cried, and I caught myself doing a lot of vigorous head nodding in agreement. The author’s compassion felt genuine, and I felt seen and validated as a parent. Betsy approaches the difficult realities openly and honestly and I love that her faith is intertwined throughout. One of the best things about this book is that the author doesn’t leave you feeling overwhelmed! Her advice is practical and down to earth and doesn’t feel “preachy.” She offers suggestions, not demands.
In closing…
Whether you’re someone getting out of a bad lifestyle or relationship, trying to heal from trauma, or wanting to learn more about the Sexual Revolution and ways to combat it, these books are sure to educate and inspire. Parents, remember that you are raising the future. You should be informed about the evils facing your children. You also need the tools to combat it.
Bold voices are necessary to bring awareness to and combat the devastating consequences of the Sexual Revolution. In order to join the fight, we need to know what we are fighting for. It’s important to understand where we have been so we can better understand how we got where we are today. These books are great starting points. Consider sharing these books with family and friends or with anyone struggling with the effects of the Sexual Revolution. Get a few copies and consider leaving one in a place where someone might find it. You might never know who will learn something or be inspired to change. That’s the power of the written word!
