Commenting on the Supreme Court decision reversing Roe v. Wade, Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. said, “We’ve won an important victory, but the war is far from over.”
“While pro-abortion forces can no longer rely on Roe to nullify state laws, 12 states and the District of Columbia protect abortion – some, like California and New York, right up to the moment of birth. Now, there will be a huge push to increase that number. Pro-life forces must be prepared to fight at the state level and in the court of public opinion.”
Morse remarked: “It’s been 49 years since Roe v. Wade. But finally we have a majority of Supreme Court justices who understand that there is no right to abortion anywhere in the US Constitution.”
“Understandably, forces of the Sexual Revolution are furious and are resorting to violence to protect their misinterpretation of the Constitution,” Morse declared. “You might say they are using violence in the streets to protect violence in the womb. They promise a Summer of Rage. We will counter that with a summer of education and activism,” Morse promised.
She continued: “The false promise of the Sexual Revolution is that everyone is allowed to have as much sex as they want, and nothing bad will ever happen. No one will ever be confronted with an unwanted set of parental responsibilities. The baby in the womb has literally been reduced to a non-person.”
“The true believers are committed to unlimited abortion because abortion is the back-up plan in the case of contraceptive failure. That is why they are furious over any limitation on abortion.”
She concluded: “The Ruth Institute stands prepared to work with organizations and individuals who share our views in whole or in part, to continue to build a culture of life and a civilization of love.”
The place to start planning for the war after Roe is at the Ruth Institute’s 5th Annual Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution, which opened today in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The Summit will feature a keynote speech by Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life of America, as well as remarks by Fr. Shenan Boquet, President of Human Life International, and Eric Scheidler, Executive Director of the Pro-life Action League.
There will also be sessions on the Gender Ideology, Contraceptive Ideology, Divorce Ideology, and declining fertility (Demographic Winter). Morse will speak on “Defend Your Values Like a Pro: A 15-Minute Defense of Traditional Christian Sexual Ethics.” The complete Summit schedule can be found here.
