UPDATE to the below update: The Dodgers have changed their mind yet again. The anti-Catholic group will be honored after all.

UPDATE: Since this press release was posted, the Dodgers have retracted their decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., blasted the Los Angeles Dodgers for announcing plans to present an award to an anti-Catholic group.

The L.A. chapter of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will receive a “Community Hero Award” from the baseball team at its annual L.A. Pride Night on June 16.

“This is outrageous,” Morse said. “Members of this group dress in grotesque drag costumes meant to mock nuns and the Catholic Church.”

“The Dodgers would never ally themselves with a group attacking any other religion. Imagine them presenting an award to white supremacists or antisemites. Only Catholics are considered legitimate targets for abuse.”

“Organizations that advocate abortion, same-sex marriage and ‘transgenderism’ attacking Catholicism is hardly surprising. When you’re in the forefront of defending morality and the family, it’s to be expected.”

“This is my faith, but Catholics aren’t the only ones concerned. The Ruth Institute staff includes Latter Day Saints, an Orthodox priest and a Jew. Our coalition includes Protestants across the denominational spectrum. We forge an alliance in defense of the family. We are all affected by attacks on morality and Christianity.”

“The tragedy here is that something as all-American as baseball is allowing itself to be corrupted by the Sexual Revolution. Even Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL, sent a letter to Major League Baseball’s Commissioner Rob Manfred calling out this lack of inclusivity for Christians, from a past-time meant to be enjoyed by all.”

“Apparently, the Dodgers learned nothing from Bud Light’s colossal ‘transgender influencer’ ad campaign fail. Consumers and fans resent attempts to force-feed them LGBTQ propaganda. The Dodgers need to wake-up and smell the beer.”
